This amaro comes from the Cappelletti family in Northern Italy and is not for the faint of heart. Sfumato derives from the word “fumo” meaning smoke. The main ingredient is a special variety of rhubarb that grows in the northern Italian hills of Alto-Adige and Veneto. The result is a dark, woodsy, distinctly Smokey aroma with a pleasant but persistent bitterness. Enjoy neat on its own as an after dinner drink, or try it mixed with tonic or grapefruit soda.
