Robert Guiberteau had no family to continue his work in the vineyards until 1996 when his grandson, Romain, rose to the challenge.  Romain studied under the legendary Nady Foucault at Clos Rougeard, where he still works part-time.  The Saumur blanc see all time in stainless steal maintaining its freshness and approachability.  This is wine of density and power.  Giving it some time in the cellar would be beneficial. 

Pairing: Roasted root vegetables, sweet and sour sauces

Grape: Chenin Blanc, vinified in one- to two-year-old oak barrels. Aged 18 months on the lees

Soil: sand and clay soils over limestone bedrock. Planted in 1933 and 1952.
