Antoine Lienhardt Bourgogne Rouge, France 2020
Antoine Lienhardt is a rising star and humble overachiever in the appellation of Côte de Nuits Villages. In 2011, he took over 4.2 hectares of vines that were planted by his grandfather in the 1960s. The 2012 vintage produced the first estate-bottled wines in the family. The biodynamically farmed regional and Côte de Nuits Villages vines produce a line of wines with a drive and energy that command your attention immediately and will evolve. There is no lack of fruit in the 2019s. A nervy backbone of acidity keeps the wines fresh and lively.
Grape: Pinot Noir, Made from two vineyards "l'Etaing" and "La Platerre" on the bottom of the village of Comblanchien. These sites tend to produce concentrated fruit that suprasses the quailty of may Bourgogne level wines.
Viticulture: Organic, Biodynamic, Regenerative
Vinification: Harvested at optimum ripeness (always determined by consistent tasting in the vineyards), Whole cluster semi-carbonic maceration in stainless steel tank. No sulfur added in vinification
Ageing: Aged 12 months in neutral oak barrels. One gram of sulfur added before bottling.
