Bossanova Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, Italy 2022

Bossanova Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, Italy 2022
Bossanova's classic Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is every bit as lovely as the land it comes from. The hills of Controguerra, nestled in Teramo between the Adriatic sea and the peaks of Gran Sasso, were planted over 40 years ago by Andrea's grandfather. The land is cared for today by Andrea Quaglia and Nat Colantonio, who continue to expand the farm and preserve more of this precious land under biodynamic management. All of their wines are produced from grapes they grow themselves.
The Montepulciano grapes for this Cerasuolo are destemmed and crushed, then after brief skin contact the juice is allowed to ferment spontaneously before aging in concrete tanks for 8 months with no added sulfites. The wine is left naturally unfiltered and unfined, and only minimal sulfites are added for bottling.
The result is a delicacy that straddles the boundary between red and rosé; light but layered, dry but luscious, easy to drink and a beauty to behold. Whip up a charcuterie board, pop this bottle, and turn any day into a summer afternoon in Abruzzo.
