Riccardo Bruna begin this winery in 1970.  Today his daughter Francesca is in charge.  This family farms vines on some of the vineyard in this mountain costal wine region.  'Maje' is Ligurian dialect for stone terraces.  The vines used for this wine grow on terraces of limestone and blue clay.  Pigato is very similar to Vermentino.  Some argue that it is the same, but don't you dare say that to a Ligurian winery owner.  These wines are lively and fresh.  Bright citrus and stone fruits with beautiful acidity.

The academicians all apparently believe that Pigato and Vermentino are the same; many of Liguria’s wine producers do not. Being facetious, you might say that’s because the grapes are both Favorita. No, wait: they’re all Piccabon (a wrong attribution: we now know Piccabon is identical to Vernaccia di San Gimignano). And so the story goes on. And on.
