Calabretta is run by Massimiliano Calabretta on Mt. Etna. What the winery is known for is its extremely long aged and release reds of Nerello Mascalese. However, his white is nothing short of delicious. The fruit is hand harvested. 1/3 of the fruit for this wine comes from old vines averaging 60-80 years old -- some vines even over 100 years old and 2/3 of the fruit comes from a young vineyard planted in 2004. Pale straw yellow. Intense aromas and flavors of lemon juice, jasmine, bergamot, and minerals. A laser beam of steely acidity provides clarity and cut on the very long and saline finish that features repeating floral notes.
