Calabretta is run by Massimiliano Calabretta on Mt. Etna. What the winery is known for is its extremely long aged and release reds of Nerello Mascalese. He has incredibly old 80+ year old vines throughout many of Etna's top subzones - many on original rootstocks. Grapes for the rosato comes from from vineyards planted between 2005 and 2006 in Calderara and Randazzo. A soft pressing and fast racking happens for color. Fermented and aged in stainless steel.
