The winery of Cantalupo is the property of the Arlunno family, who have long been vineyard owners and grape growers in the beautiful rolling hills of Novara, tucked north of the Po River valley and south of the Alps. Officially, these are the back roads of Piemonte, but in fact they are great hunting grounds for superb wines that offer outstanding value.
Grape: Nebbiolo (Spanna)
Vineyard: Sourced from the Breclemae vineyard.
Orientation: South- Southeast Exposition at an altitude of 280-310m. It extends over 10 hectares.
Soil: moraine (glacial deposit) which is high in minerals, rocks, gravel and sand.
Aging: In Spring it was transferred to oak casks and kept there for about 4 years until the bottling. Spends 2-3 years normally in bottle before release.
In traditional Alto Piemonte fashion, these wines are herbal and savory exhibiting notes of thyme, licorices, maraschino cherry, iron and earth. The tannins are delicate with bright acidity. A classic vintage of striking finesse.
