Château des Rontets 'Clos Varambon' Pouilly-Fuissé, France 2020

Château des Rontets 'Clos Varambon' Pouilly-Fuissé, France 2020
I couldn't help but be drawn to the aroma of freshly baked brioche with a hint of salted butter, with Varambon. It's not overpowering, but it complements the flavors of lemon, tangerine, and white flowers quite nicely. While there are more fruity and secondary notes than rocky mineral notes, the acidity provides a well-structured foundation that carries through a long-lasting finish. -Kimberly
The history of Château des Rontets is one of revival. The estate, which has been producing since the 1870s, had fallen into disrepair until Claire and Fabio Gazeau-Montrasi restored this historic property to greatness beginning in 1994. Today, Château des Rontets produces three cuvées of Pouilly-Fuissé and one of Saint-Amour. All its wines are certified organic. They may not be the cool kids on the block, but they are making pure, honest, terroir-driven expressions of Pouilly-Fuissé.
