This historic Château dates back to Roman times passings hands to the Benedictine Monks and in the thirteenth century to the De La Roque brothers who planted new vines. Today, Château La Roque is in the capable hands of Cyriaque Rozier, who converted the domaine to organic (certified in 2004) and now biodynamic (certified in 2011) viticulture, as planned by his mentor, previous owner, and Languedoc legend, Jack Boutin. The grapes are hand harvested, only partially de-stemmed. Fermentation happens in cement tank with indigenous yeast. Wine is aged in cemented tanks for 1 year before bottling. This a dark savory wine full of ripe plum, earth and structured tannin.
Grapes: 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mouvedre
Soils: Scree slopes, clay and limestone
Farming: Organic (2004), Biodynamic (2011)
