Comando G 'La Bruja de Rozas', Vinos de Madrid, Spain 2020
Tucked away amongst rugged peaks of the SIerra de Gredos, just a short trip from Madrid, Daniel Jimenez-Landi & Fernando Garcia have been quietly crafting some of Spains best wines since 2008 under the name Comando G. Comando G’s “village” wine, La Bruja de Rozas, is sourced from several vineyards in the vicinity of Las Rozas de Puerto Real. This is the first red to be bottled by property.
In regard to the vintage, 2020 was a cool vintage, but not as cool as 2016 & 2018. July was very mild, while early September was warm. The duo were able to pick before the torrential rains of September 17th lending to a pure fruited Garnacha from granitic sand. La Bruja is perfumed and lively with plenty of fruit with a backbone of acidity and fine tannin.
Pairing: Spiced Fish Stew
