Corison Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California 2018
Grape grower & winemaker Cathy Corison produces artisanal, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon that speaks of place. Corison's fruit finds its home on the western benchland vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena. She spent many years making wine for others, including Chappellet Vineyard, Staglin Family Vineyard, York Creek Vineyards and Long Meadow Ranch. Finally, in 1987 she made the first vintage of Corison Cabernet. 'There was a wine inside me that needed to be made', she says. Her wines are both powerful & elegant remaining under 14% alcohol. She puts farming first over making big over blown styles of Cabernet Sauvignon. Everything you think you know about Napa Cabernet, forget it.
