Naturale Orange Vermouth NV
In the 40 + years since Giusto Occhipinti cofounded COS winery, he's gone from being a pioneer in natural winemaking to one of the most esteemed producers in all of Sicily. His latest project is Naturale Vermouths, a collaboration with his close friend and chocolate maker, Simone Sabaini, which was inspired by their mutual love of Sicily. This is their orange vermouth, made with organically grown Zibibo (Muscat) grapes which were fermented on the skins, hence, an orange wine. The exact recipe remains a secret, but you'll find notes of orange creamsicle, baking spices and wild herbs. Sweetness predominates upfront then yields to more bitter notes on the finish. Great for cocktails or on ice with a splash of sparkling soda water.
