This is the second vintage of this cru wine for Pépière. The estate does not hold vines in Gorges but sources fruit from highly regarded grower Michel Brégeon. The mother rock in Gorges is gabbro, a volcanic formation also known as basalt; the soils are dense and sticky with clay. The wines from Gorges are among the firmest, most structured and mineral of all of the Muscadet crus, hence the 42 months on its lees at Pépière. Think 1er Cru Chablis.
Grape: Melon de Bourgogne
Soil: Basalt and Clay
