Domaine Gallety Cotês du Vivrais Rouge, France 2018
The Côtes run down the western flank of the Rhône, mirroring those of the Côtes-du-Rhône on the opposite bank of the river. Alain Gallety takes every aspect of the wine making process seriously. To grow the quality of grapes he wants, he farms his fifteen hectares of vineyards organically, as he has done since the early 80’s. In the cellar the rouge is aged for 15 months in neutral oak barrel with minimal intervention during the fermentation process. This is an impressive wine of depth and complexity, something you could age for the next 10 years. Although this is 50% Grenache, the Syrah really shines through here, adding a savory dark fruited element.
