The domaine started bottling its own production in the 1920s after the current Marquis’ grandfather, Sem d’Angerville, stood up to the negotiant's corrupt blending practices. As a result and in defiance of them, he became one of the first Burgundy domains to estate bottle their wines. Today the estate is led by Guillaume d’Angerville, farmed immaculately, and is producing some of the best wines in the region. Fremiet is a 1.57-hectare-sized parcel located under the Clos des Ducs and Pitures.

Review Jasper Morris: 91-94pts

Fuller crimson purple, with an explosive ripe raspberry nose. I would not want this to be any riper, but am very happy with it as it is. There is a certain tension on the palate, possibly a touch of blood orange in the fruit mix, enough acidity, fine-grained tannins and good length. The vineyard is on a good slope here which may help the freshness. Tasted: October 2021

Grape: Pinot Noir

Soil: Limestone & Clay

Viticulture: Biodynamic
