Domaine Mauro Guicheney 'À l’abri du Monde' Blanc, Côtes de Duras, France 2021
The Côtes de Duras appellation, located 40 miles east of Bordeaux, has been traditionally overlooked. However, Corine and her partner Didier have taken on the challenge of transforming their vineyards into a haven of organic and biodynamic agriculture. Their vineyards are an oasis of health, with rose bushes and trees carefully interspersed throughout.
Corine's "À l'abri du Monde" Blanc is a testament to their hard work and dedication. Its blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris is harvested from upper-hill parcels of poor limestone-heavy soil, making it a true reflection of the terroir. The wine is spontaneously fermented and aged in stainless steel, with minimal intervention, resulting in a wine that is precise, clean, and chiseled. It leads with minerality rather than fruit, and its texture is both generous and refined.
Through their passion, Corine and Didier have turned their vineyard into a true 'À l’abri du Monde' --Shelter from the World. Their wine is a celebration of the unique characteristics that make the Côtes de Duras appellation so special.
