Domaine Rougeot 'Clos des Roses', Pommard, Burgundy 2019
Domaine Rougeot was founded in the ’70s, in the Meursault village center, Pierre-Henri is the eighth generation of Rougeot's to be winemakers here, but different from his predecessors, he was inspired by the more minimalist winemaking approach of the Loire and Beaujolais regions. He vinifies using whole cluster, cold maceration and native yeast. His wines taste like the Burgundy we all want to drink everyday, ready to pop the cork and enjoy while being rustic and transparent, with plenty of dark fruit to balance their structured mineral spine. Though from Meursault, which is a white wine village, Pierre-Henri’s Pinot Noirs are not to be missed and this wine is graceful and open at an early stage.
