There is a growing community of talented winemakers in Itata, Chile, including Felipe Ramirez who founded Dominio del Cuarzo in 2019. He currently produces two cuvees from two small vineyards in the region. Felipe has worked closely with soil expert Pedro Parra over the years, and they have become good friends and colleagues. The first Dominio del Cuarzo wines were made at Pedro's winery, but Felipe has since moved next door to share a winery with a friend. The wine produced by Dominio del Cuarzo is fresh and focused, with notes of dried herbs, pepper, raspberry, and cranberry fruit. It has a lovely brightness and elegance, with a hint of mint in the background. The wine also has a tannic structure that adds to its complexity.
