This rye was crafted by Dave Pickerell, who was previously the Master Distiller as Maker's Mark in Loretto, Kentucky.
PROOF: 90 proof, 45% ABV
DISTILLATION: distilled and aged entirely in Hudson Valley, NY.
AGING: double aged in neutral barrel and fresh new oak
No age statement, but the mash bill is 100% Rye
Located in the Hudson River Valley about 2 hours north of New York City. They werethe first distillery to make a Solera aged whiskey back in 2012, since then a handful of others have followed suit. From Hillrock’s website: “‘Solera- a stack of barrels where a small portion of whiskey is removed periodically and new whiskey is added. No barrel is ever fully emptied, and age and complexity gradually increase over time. Hillrock marries small barrel-aged Hillrock Estate Bourbon with mature seed bourbon before finishing in 20 year-old Oloroso Sherry casks to balance the flavors and add layers of complexity.
