Knebel Riesling, Mosel, Germany 2019
As a child, Matthias had no doubt that becoming a winegrower like his father, Rheinhard, was in his future. But as a teenager, Matthias had second thoughts. He saw first hand just how grinding the work could be, as the handwork in these sites is monumental due to the steepness of the vineyards. Ultimately, he was convinced by the magic of wine itself and made the decision to follow family tradition. And we are happy for this decision. The grapes from this bottling are sourced from the Mosel Terraces in and around Knebel’s home of Winningen. The wine is spontaneously fermented and aged entirely in stainless. It's ample on palate but finishing with that energy that only steep vineyards Rieslings will give us. A classic dry Riesling.
Pairing: Ceviche, crudos, oysters, marinated vegetables
