La Rogerie 'Le Bouc' Pinot Blanc, Alsace, France 2021

La Rogerie 'Le Bouc' Pinot Blanc, Alsace, France 2021
This is La Rogerie Alsace. There is a bit of a backstory here, so bear with us. Francois Petit hails from Avize and has followed in the footsteps of his father, recently taking over operations at the family domaine. His experience with producers, particularly Selosse, has helped him gain insights crucial to his style and understanding of winemaking. Francois is married to Justine Boxler, whose family owns Albert Boxler in Alsace. What sets this project apart is that Justine and Francois are committed to conquering both regions instead of choosing between them. They took over from Francois' father in 2015 and immediately set out to farm differently. Their focus is on maintaining a healthy and sustainable vineyard. To stay true to their vision, they installed cellars in Alsace the same year.
Le Bouc represents Pinot Blanc as a Burgundian expression. Loaded with creamy citrus notes of lemon pith, and tangerine, highlighted by a touch of orchard fruit and white flowers. The finish dances across the palate; you can feel it glistening on the taste buds. The wine is distinctly creamy but the acidity keeps the palate buoyant and lively.
