Laherte Frères Brut Nature, Blanc de Blancs, Champagne, France NV (Base 2019) MAGNUM
Aurélien Laherte is a young and talented winemaker who, like many of his peers in Champagne, focuses on producing high-quality wines using natural methods. He has gained recognition for his terroir-driven wines, which showcase the unique character of his biodynamically-farmed vineyards. As part of his portfolio, he has created a limited series of small-batch, single-vineyard, single-vintage cuvées, each consisting of approximately 3,000 bottles. This particular Blanc de Blancs is made from the finest Chardonnay grapes grown on the southern slopes of Epernay and the Côte des Blancs. The wine is a blend of 50% reserve wine and undergoes primary fermentation in a combination of foudres and barrels, with regular stirring of the lees. It also goes through partial malolactic fermentation and has no added dosage. This Blanc de Blancs is a true reflection of the pure and refreshing minerality that is characteristic of the Chardonnay grown in the chalky soils of the region.
