Dudognon, 20 Year 'Vieille Réserve' Grande Champagne, Cognac, France
This is the very old 'Vielle Réserve' bottling of the Dudognon family's Grande Champagne Cognac, aged 20 years in Limousin oak. Smooth, elegant, and nuanced, the extended aging has stretched the typical orchard fruit notes deep into the territory of toffee, vanilla, tobacco and spice. Whispers of juicy citrus and stone fruit are nestled into the oaky spicebox and caramel, coupled with a balanced acidity and minerality, which linger on the tongue in a long and satisfying finish.
The Dudognon family has remained one of the most admired growers and producers of Cognac for nearly 250 years. They continue to employ traditional methods on their estate, which dates back to at least 1776, including organic farming of their vineyards and no use of additives. Such pure, unadulterated brandy has become a rare find, and this particular bottling has been expertly aged to perfection.
