Louis Métaireau 'Grand Mouton' Extra Brut, Loire Valley, France NV
Louis Métaireau 'Grand Mouton' Extra Brut, Loire Valley, France NV
Louis Métaireau started the domaine in the mid 1900's and was one of a handful of producers responsible for the current popularity of the Muscadet region. He began the now common practice of leaving the wines on fine lees to develop texture. The domaine was taken over by his daughter, Marie-Luce, who's charming and bright personality is reflected in the wines she produces. Farmed organically and hand harvested, this Melon de Bourgogne sparkling delivers the region's crisp coastal quaffability in a bubbly format. Bone dry, incredibly mineral driven, with very lively acidity. Notes of citrus, green apple, and oyster shells drive this wine home on the palate and guide you to another sip.
Pairing: Oysters and Muscadet are a classic, as are bubbles with fried seafood... Try this with fried oysters!
Grape: Melon de Bourgogne
Viticulture: Organic
Soils: Granite and Alluvial Sand
