Originally from the Jura, Mathieu Apffel has been producing wine in Savoie since 2013, making small amounts of Apremont with a friend before striking out on his own in 2017. After joining forces with his wife Camille, the couple now farms 4.5 hectares of land, with the main focus being Jacquère. This bottling of 100% Jacquère tells a story that is way too familiar to grape growers, 'Before The Storm' 2018 was a great vintage in quality and quantity, but Mathieu lost 80% of his crop due to a hail storm in 2019. So this cuvée that was a potential one-time release has now made a home within the Apffel portfolio. 

Pairing: Greens, fresh fish, cauliflower steaks, pesto 

Grape: 100% Jacquère, direct pressed, fermented in stainless steel with wild yeasts and aged on the lees in neutral barrique. Unfined, unfiltered, no SO2.
