This wine is made in Portugal's Dão region. The vineyards are located in São João de Lourosa, between Viseu and Silgueiros, about an hour from the Atlantic coast. It is a plateau at an altitude of 500 meters on the right bank of the Dão River. Grapes are grown on low-yielding vines growing in granite soils 500m above sea level on the right bank of the Dão. Fermentation with natural yeasts took place in stainless steel tanks then the wine is matured for ten months in old oak barrels. We love this wine for its lovely aromatic profile; hints of cinnamon, cherry, and earthy cocoa with a herbaceous top note. The tannins are silky but hold good tension that lingers driving a lengthy finish.
