Monte Dall'Ora 'Saseti' Valpolicella Classico, Italy 2021
Nestled in the heart of the Valpolicella, Monte Dall'Ora is a beautiful vineyard that sits on one of the five ridges that descend the valley, resembling the fingers of a hand. Founded in 1995 by Carlo Venturini and his wife Alessandra Zantedeschi, Monte Dall'Ora is a family-owned estate that was built from scratch. When they first acquired the terraced land it was in terrible condition, and they had to rebuild everything. However, the couple's passion for creating a balanced and sustainable vineyard that promotes natural biodiversity kept them going.
Carlo believes that balance in the vineyard is the key to producing wines of exceptional quality. To achieve this, he focuses on promoting agricultural and natural biodiversity instead of just vine tending. The vineyard is filled with lush grass, cherry, and olive trees, which complement the vineyard beautifully.
Saseti is named after the "little stones" found in the limestone soils of the vineyard. The wine has a stunning ruby-red color with purplish tinges. The nose is fragrant and floral, with notes of cherries and red plums that fill the air. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, with minerality from the estate's limestone soil that gives it a distinct character. The finish is fruity and satisfying, leaving a delightful lingering finish. Serve with a light chill.
