Newfound 'Gravels', California Red Wine 2019
Newfound Wines came from a place of love for wine and the wish to be more connected to a place and time. Matt and Audra Naumann, wine industry veterans founded the vineyard and winery in California’s Sierra Foothills and set to shape up their dream. The 50/50 blend of Grenache and Carignan is sourced from two vineyards with very similar geology. Both grapes are 100% whole cluster ferment, using only native yeasts. The Grenache was aged in one 2000L Austrian oval barrel, while the Carignan was aged in one 2000L French foudré. Deep black cherry, herbal sage brush, lavender dominate this mid bodied, elegant red.
