Peter Lauer 'Fass 3' Ayler, Riesling Fienherb, Mosel, Germany 2022

Peter Lauer 'Fass 3' Ayler, Riesling Fienherb, Mosel, Germany 2022
Florian Lauer is quickly developing a cult following for his pure & expressive Rieslings. Florian’s general style is exactly the opposite of his famous Saar neighbor Egon Müller. At Lauer, the focus is on dry-tasting Rieslings as opposed to the residual sugar wines of the latter. His wines always portray a lightly weighted quality that quickly dissipated with their nervy and feathery light energy, while allowing for a lengthly finish. Fass 3 is another village level off-dry, this is sourced from various parcels on the “Grand Cru” Kupp – as such this is more the equivalent of “Senior,” in a Feinherb style. In other words, it is a “Grand Cru,” declassified and sold at village-level pricing. In 2020 this wine is classicaly Feinherb in style, 34.8 g/l of RS, an electric 9.4g/l of acidity and 9.5% alcohol.
