Wachau stretches about 13km long along the Danube river gorge and is one of the coolest wine growing regions in Austria. Steeply terraced vineyards consist mostly of Gfohler Gneiss (orthgneiss) and other ancient igneous/metamorphic rock beds. It’s the perfect condition for high acid, mineral driven, uniquely expressive white wines. Peter Veyer-Malberg is making some of the regions most exquisite and mineral driven expressions of Gruner & Riesling. He works out of a small garage with two large acacia barrels. He gives every step of the process the utmost attention to detail & it shows.
