Pierre & Jean Gonon are making arguably the top wines in the region of Saint-Joseph. Owning vines from one of Saint-Joseph's legends, Trollat, along with perfectly healthy vineyards from their father, the brothers certainly have a winning combination. Gonon St. Joseph rouge is sourced from all three of the original St. Joseph villages. “Les Oliviers” blanc comes from the Coteau des Oliviers, 200 meters above Tournon, where their father Pierre first planted Marsanne in 1958, followed by Roussanne in 1974. This is considered the greatest site for white wine in St. Joseph. The wine is barrel fermented and aged almost entirely in used oak (there is one new demi-muid in the mix for the 2018). There is a richness of exotic ripe fruit laden with almond skin, quince, citrus & subtle mineral notes.
Grapes: Marsanne 80% & Roussanne 20%
Soil: Sand-clay, galet stone above granite soils on South facing part of Les Oliviers
