Founded by Piero Palmucci in 1989, the winery Poggio di Sotto is still held to the same standards as it was when owned by Palmucci. With special attention to clonal selection of Sangiovese Grosso, organic viticulture and traditional methods of aging and fermentation, Poggio di Sotto's wines are in it for the long haul. The grapes are selected from 3 different plots at different elevations and blended. The wines age for 58 months in 25 to 35-hl Slavonian oak botti and 8 months in bottle. The wines have a very elegant and Burgundian feel to them.
