The Valle dell'Acate estate is located in Acate, in the Classico zone of Sicily's only DOCG, Cerasuolo di Vittoria. Wines in this region are a blend of Frappato and Nero d'Avola, producing light red that's great chilled or at cellar temp. The two varietals are macerated and vinified separately, with 5 days on the skins for Frappato and 12 days for the Nero d’Avola. The wines are blended and aged in a mix of large 500L neutral oak and 10-15% new barrels. This is a slightly fuller version of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, offering an earthy bouquet of dried roses and a savory mineral core, coupled with refreshing acidity and plush tannins. An excellent accompaniment to a variety of foods, from grilled beef or lamb to heavier fish dishes like seafood stews or tuna steaks.

Grapes: 60% Nero d’Avola, 40% Frappato, from 10-25 year-old vines

Soil: Terre rosse, poor red sands derived from the southern Apennines
