Weingut Emmerich Knoll, Ried Kreutles Loibner, Grüner Veltliner Smaragd, Wachau, Austria 2018
Probably one of the most iconic wine labels in the world, the baroque motif of the St. Urban of the winemakers, and one of most respected winemaking families not only in Austria but in world. The Knolls have practiced viticulture in the Wachau for generations, with their first estate bottles being filled in the 1950s. The Ried Kreutles is the easterner of the two hillside locations of the Loibenberg near the village of Dürnstein. The palate is dense but intensely focused, a more concentrated style of Grüner showing notes of ginger and lemon preserve.
