Stillman's Sonder 10-Year Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Wisconsin
Stillman's Sonder 10-Year Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Wisconsin
The Maas Family in Wisconsin were the original owners of the Rumchata brand, and after selling it they put the money to good use creating the Dancing Goat Distillery in Madison. In 2010 they purchased a large batch of orphaned barrels of experimental whiskeys from MGP in Indiana, made with malts and ferments including distillers malt, malted negrapils, and malted carapils, using a 72-hour controlled fermentation.
The Dancing Goat Team secretly aged these whiskeys in their newly built rickhouse for 10 years, then embarked on an 18-month journey of analysis, blending, reentry testing, gauging, finishing, re-blending, and regauging. The ultimate result of their patience and labor was two ultra-complex and expertly blended whiskeys: a 10-Year American Single Malt, and this 10-Year Straight Bourbon.
Stillman's Sonder Straight Bourbon is silky smooth from the long aging in Dancing Goat's cool Wisconsin rickhouse, giving it a more focused density and energy than southern Bourbon, while simultaneously offering deeply rich flavors of butterscotch, peanut butter candy, dulce de leche, and caramel corn. This highly unique Bourbon received 98 points and a Double-Gold award in the Bourbon category at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, making it sought after by collectors around the globe.
