Domaine Giacometti 'Cuvée Sarah', Patrimonio Rouge, Corsica 2019
Giacometti's Cuvée Sarah mimics the wild landscape in which it is grown, in the rough uninhabited land scape of Agrites Desert, a coastal region in northern Corsica. It was a treat to find this gem amongst the Kermit Lynch portfolio. If you are a lover of rustic Italian wine, like those from Sardegna or brooding wine from Abruzzo, this may be up your alley. The fruit is dark and brambly with significant tannins and bright acidity, as Niellucciu is technically the same varietal as Sangiovese. But this is not like Tuscan Sangiovese. It has a wild side. Although the wine has bottle age, it will benefit from some air, paired with a pork shoulder and polenta.
Pairing: braised shank, truffles, tender meat
Grape: Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu, Grenache
Soil: Granite
Viticulture: Organic
