Dominique et Janine Crochet 'Le Chêne Marchand' Sancerre, France 2022
The Crochet family has a long history in the region, and much of the Chêne Marchand vineyard has been split up between branches of the family over the past few generations. Dominique et Janine retain an excellent reputation for crafting white wines that reflect the mineral-rich soils and cool climate of Sancerre.
This 2022 vintage balances the riper style of this warm season while achieving excellent acidity and no lack of minerality from the limestone soils. The nose offers enticing notes of citrus zest, white peach, and delicate florals intertwined with subtle hints of flint and wet stone. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious balance between vibrant acidity and a rich, textured mouthfeel, unfolding layers of ripe green apple, grapefruit, and nuanced mineral undertones that culminate in a long, refreshing finish.
