Antico Amaro Noveis
Antico Amaro Noveis
The Francoli family has been distilling since 1875, when Louis William Francoli first fired up a rudimentary still in his home in Valtellina. His descendants went on to establish their distillery in Ghemme in 1951. Distillerie Francoli remains a family-owned and operated business to this day. Over the decades, the Francoli family has gained fame for the quality of their grappa and liqueurs. However, what is less appreciated is the family's ethical approach to the environment. In 2006, Francoli was certified as a carbon-neutral distillery, leading the way for environmentally-conscious distilleries.
This unique Amaro is based on bitter aromatic mountain herbs found at the foothills of the Alps. It has been made in Piedmont since the early 1960s with a neutral spirit base distilled from molasses. An infusion of over a dozen botanicals takes place, including gentian root, wormwood, yarrow, genepi, nutmeg, anise, cinchona, rhubarb, sweet and bitter orange, and more. The Amaro is then aged in oak barrels before being bottled at 24% ABV.
