Craigellachie 13-Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Scotland

The Craigellachie is a single malt distillery located in the Speyside region of Scotland. The name "Craigellachie" is Gaelic for "rocky hill" and refers to a cliff overlooking the River Spey. It was founded in 1891 by a group of blenders and merchants led by Alexander Edward. For much of its history, the whisky produced at Craigellachie was used primarily in blended whiskies for a variety of well-known distillers but a core range of house-made single malt batches were released in 2014, including 13, 17 and 23-year-old expressions. Initially matured in both old Bourbon and Sherry casks they are then transferred to first-fill casks before blended as one single-malt whiskey. The result is well-rounded, robust and fruit-forward Scotch distinct from the typical Speyside selection.
