Willett Family Estate 10-Year Rare Release (Barrel #3908) Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Kentucky
Willett Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky is one of the region's oldest and most respected whiskey producers. The member of the Willett family that started it all was John David Willett, who was the master distiller for five separate Kentucky distilleries in the 1800's. It wasn't until 1936, after the repeal of Prohibition, that his grandson, Thompson Willett, founded the Willett Distillery as we know it today. They have been producing classic bourbon and rye ever since.
The 10-Year Rare Release is a gem, cut at full cask strength and bottled non-chill filtered after aging 10 years in a single barrel which yielded 133 bottles. Deep and rich with classic Willett dark fruits and caramel balanced by tart tension and a base of smooth oak tannin, while the complex nose throws dry cherry aromas offset with just a hint of vanilla. Only 1 bottle available.
