Grgich Hills Estate Chardonnay, Napa Valley, California 2021

Miljenko “Mike” Grgich, the man that placed not only Napa Valley, but the whole American wine industry on the global wine map after winning the historic Judgment of Paris in 1976, is also the name behind behind this iconic winery.  Founded by Mike and his dear friend Austin Hills in 1977, the Estate has committed to a tireless work and dedication to craft some of the finest wines that Napa Valley can offer.

This Chardonnay was produced with grapes harvested from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards in the heart of the region, and it reflects both artful craftsmanship and a profound respect for the land.

Fermented and aged in French oak casks, and with NO malolactic fermentation in order to allow the wine retain its bright acidity and show a more refined expression of the Chardonnay grape, with aromas of ripe pear, apple, and a touch of citrus fruit with subtle notes of vanilla and a hint of almond. On the palate, it is rich yet refreshing, offering flavors of stone fruit, lemon curd, and a delicate minerality that lingers through the finish.

This vintage captures Grgich Hills’ philosophy of producing wines that are true to their varietal character. It’s an ideal choice for those who appreciate a refined, food-friendly Chardonnay.
