Jurtschitsch 'Urgestein' Grüner Veltliner, Kamptal, Austria 2024
Jurtschitsch 'Urgestein' Grüner Veltliner, Kamptal, Austria 2024
Weingut Jurtschitsch was previously run by the three brothers Edwin, Paul and Karl Jurtschitsch, but is now in the hands of Alwin Jurtschitsch and his wife, Stefanie Hasselbach. One of the most prestigious wineries in northern Austria, the Jurtschitsch family are known as leaders of the natural wine movement in Austria. The wines are far from what you think of as natural, as they implement traditional techniques established by their grandparents to produce clean cool-climate wines with finesse that strike a balance of ripe fruit and fresh acidity. 2024 was an excellent vintage, and this wine of 100% Gruner from the Urgestein vineyard represents a great value as a step up from their entry level white.
