Günther Steinmetz Pinot Noir, Mosel, Germany 2022
Weingut Günther Steinmetz consists of 13 hectares of vines spread over some 20 km in the heart of the Middle Mosel. The historic estate, centered in Brauneberg, is over 120 years old. Stefan Steinmetz took over in 1998 after his father passed away suddenly, and has done a miraculous job of elevating both the expanse and viticultural practices of the estate. He is dedicated to the most environmentally friendly viticulture possible by not using fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides, as well as avoiding any addition of treatment agents such as yeasts, fining agents, acid additives or animal proteins whatsoever in the cellar. All wines are fermented spontaneously in large wood or steel.
