Terrazzi Alti is a tiny winery led by Siro Buzzetti in Valtellina, one of the most interesting wine regions in the Alps. High altitude accompanied by steeply terraced vineyards leaves no room for mechanization, strictly manpower. Siro owns just under two hectares of Chiavennesca aka Nebbiolo, all cultivated on terraces in the Sassella sub-area between 430 and 500 meters above sea level. Long macerations, old botti are the standard for this winery. The wines are highly expressive, defined by maraschino cherry, roses, and a linear yet lengthy finish.
