Rouges Queues Hautes Cotes de Beaune Rouge, Burgundy, France 2021
Rouges Queues Hautes Cotes de Beaune Rouge, Burgundy, France 2021
When Domaine des Rouges-Queues began in 1988, Isabelle and Jean-Yves Vantey owned just 1 hectare of vines in Maranges. They slowly expanded, adopting biodynamic farming practices in all of their vineyards, to the current 6 hectares in Maranges, Santenay, and the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. Always hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, usually in a combination of stainless steel and open-top wood fermenters. Aging is in used barrels only, generally for one year, with the goal of bottling without SO2 as long as no evidence indicates the need. The wines are purely expressive and honest, with about as much character and personality as one can find in the southern Cotes de Beaune.
