Bitouzet-Prieur Volnay Rouge, Burgundy, France 2022

Bitouzet-Prieur Volnay Rouge, Burgundy, France 2022
Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur was created by joining the estates of Vincent Bitouzeau and Annie Prieur, who's familys each have deep Burgundian roots. The Bitouzets have been making wine in Volnay ever since M. Guillote, Vincent’s great-great grandfather, established his Burgundy domaine back in the 1800s. Annie Prieur’s wine pedigree is just as impressive with her family making wine for centuries in Meursault and Ladoix. Nowadays Vincent and Annie are perpetuating the tradition by passing the family wine heritage onto their son, Francois Bitouzet.
Bitouzet-Prieur’s style is classic, producing wines with impeccable structure and delicate finesse, with a remarkable capability of aging for decades with elegance and grace. Their wines are crafted with great respect for the land, embracing the unique characteristics of each Lieu-Dit, with a very rigorous approach to organic viticulture, and a low-intervention philosophy in the cellar.
The flagship Volnay is elegant and expressive, offering a bouquet of red berries, floral notes, and a touch of spice. The palate is layered with red cherry, raspberry, and a fine mineral edge. Soft tannins and a long finish give it a refined and balanced structure, making it a classic representation of Volnay’s finesse.
