From Domaine des Ardoisieres, it seems Mont Blanc is everywhere. The towering mountain watches over this small estate near the Swiss border from every angle, shaping the wines so expertly grown and made here.
In 1998, Domaine des Ardoisières was established by vigneron Michel Grisard with the aim to revive the renowned Coteau de Cevins. Cevins was formerly known for producing exceptional wines with its schist soils, steeply terraced vineyards and southern exposure, but during the creation of the AOC, Cevins was excluded due to its lack of direct sunshine. But Cevins’ history of producing great wine was too much for Grisard to resist, and with that, Cevins became part of Grisard’s initiative, "Vivre en Tarentaise," which aimed to revive the Tarentaise Valley to its former greatness.
These wines speak to their true Alpine identity offering the freshness one would expect from a sunny ski region for the seriousness of Cru Beaujolais.
