Pierre-Marie Chermette 'Origine' Beaujolais Nouveau Vieille Vignes, France 2025
Pierre-Marie Chermette 'Origine' Beaujolais Nouveau Vieille Vignes, France 2025
The Chermette family strives to produce the best wine by paying close attention in the vineyard in order to reduce inputs and obtain pure and natural grapes. Their motto is "L’art de faire le vin au plus près du raisin"; basically, the art of making wine is about being close to the grapes. Harvest is done by hand by two teams of 25, and vinification and elevage are guided with a low intervention philosophy.
Uncommon for Beaujolais Nouveau, this wine is made from old vines, resulting in an expression of Gamay that is pure but not overly simplistic. The 2025 growing season saw healthy rains in the spring, leaving the vines unstressed throughout a warm summer with cool August nights. This is a vintage of both quality and generosity, offering bright fruit, freshness, and typical Beaujolais drinkability. Dark purple, well-structured, and ripe on the palate with classic notes of cassis and raspberry. The complexity of this wine is unexpected from Nouveau, making it a rarity that can improve over the winter and be enjoyed right through the following summer.
