Produced from the lesser-known black grape, Rufete, grown in the dry continental climate of Toro, this light-bodied red defies expectations with its approachability and food-friendliness.  Indigenous yeasts ferment the mono-varietal harvest in stainless steel, and the finished wine is aged for a brief 10 months in old oak barriques so the fruit can shine with minimal oak influence.  Balanced tannins and refreshing acidity ground the nose of savory herbs and brambly red fruits, all culminating in a long finish with lingering spice notes.  This is a joy to drink at the start of a meal any time of year.
